Vishwas Special School is owned and managed by the Col. K. G. Pandalai Charitable Trust, a philanthropic institution that has been providing medical and educational assistance to economically deprived individuals and institutions for over four decades. Financial assistance is currently being given to several hospitals, orphanages and educational institutions, patients and students for treatment and education.

With the rapid growth of Chennai, the Trust recognised the pressing need for special education catering to challenged children from underprivileged and marginalised sections of society, who would otherwise have no access to quality remedial training. The result is Vishwas Special School, a special-needs institution established in July 2011 for providing the best possible remedial education to mentally and physically challenged children from underprivileged families.

The Col. K. G. Pandalai Charitable Trust is registered with the government. Donations made by patrons for the growth of the school qualify for 80G exemption under Income Tax regulations.

Vishwas Special School is led by Mrs. Shanta Pillai, an educationist with over three decades of experience in training children in India and abroad. Holding a Masters Degree in Learning Disorders from the University of Georgia, USA, Shanta has been the Head of the Marthoma Opportunity School in Bangalore, India, as well as the Programme Coordinator of the Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs in Dubai.
